Der Berliner Designer und Architekt Van Bo Le-Mentzel, bekannt durch seine Hartz IV Möbel und das One-Sqm-House, nutzte seine Gastprofessur an der Hochschule für bildende Künste in Hamburg, um mit einem offenen Lernansatz (Crowducation) zu experimentieren. Seine Initiativen wie die Open Academy Of The Fine Hearts und die #dclassconference fließen in das Bildungsexperiment #openschoool, das Le-Mentzel mit dem Wiener Designstudenten Jakob Listabarth als Demonstrator für 2051: Smart Life in the City entwickelt, ein.
Das Bildungswesen wird einer Ökonomisierung entzogen und zum Allgemeingut. „Offenheit zählt mehr als Wissen. Orientierung ist besser als Zertifizierung. Orthogravieh ist überbewertet – Beziehungen sind alles“, so das Manifest der Schule der Zukunft, die keine Klassen, keine Trennung zwischen Lehrenden und Lernenden, keinen Lehrplan und keinen festen Standort hat. Sie basiert auf dem Prinzip des gegenseitigen Lernens und nutzt die Intelligenz der lokalen Nachbarschaft ebenso wie die der globalen Internet-Community. Im öffentlichen Raum abgehaltene Meinungsforen, sogenannte „Speakouts“, sind Teil dieser Vision eines „fliegenden Klassenzimmers“, das in einem partizipativen Prozess entwickelt wird und dazu einlädt, das Thema Bildung aktiv mitzugestalten.

His initiatives like Open Academy of the Fine Hearts and #dclassconference feed into the educational experiment #openschoool designed as a demonstrator for 2051: Smart Life in the City by Le-Mentzel together with Vienna design student Jakob Listabarth.
Here, the sphere of education is removed from any economization and becomes a public good. “Openness counts more than knowledge. Orientation is better than certification. Orthografy is overvalued—relationships are everything,” is the manifesto of the school of the future, where there is no separation between teachers and students, no syllabus, and no fixed location. This school is based on the principle of mutual learning and leverages the collective intelligence of the local neighborhood and the global Internet community. Public opinion fora or “speakouts” are a part of this vision of a “flying classroom”, which will be created in a participatory process and invite people to take an active role in shaping the topic of education.
